Club Constitution
This constitution was passed by the AGM in 1983, after having been accepted by Maiden Castle in 1982, and as such represents an agreement between the club and the University.
The constitution was revised at the 2025 AGM. The changes are indicated by the struckout text.
- The club shall be known as the Durham Colleges Staff Cricket Club.
- The Officers shall be the
President, Vice-President*,Chairman, Captain, Vice-Captain, Secretary and Treasurer. They shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting, and will be jointly responsible for the team selection and conducting the administrative and financial affairs of the club. - There may be a President, and/or Hon-President, to be appointed by the Officers of the Club at the Annual General Meeting or at such time as the position becomes vacant.
Membership is open to all employees of the University of Durham, its Associated Colleges, and, at the discretion of the Officers of the Club, a number of external members limited to six, or ten percent of the membership, whichever is the the greatest.- Membership is open to all current and retired employees of Durham University, all PostGraduate students at Durham University, and ex-employees or alumni of Durham University. At the discretion of the Officers of the Club, there may also be a number of external members, limited to six, or ten percent of the membership, whichever is the the greatest.
There will be an annual membership fee**, and a fee for each game played, to be decided upon at the Annual General Meeting.- There may be a fee for each game played and net session attended, and/or an annual fee, to be decided upon at the Annual General Meeting.
The Annual General Meeting will be held at the beginning of the season on a date agreed by the Officers of the Club. At this meeting an Auditor will be appointed.- The Annual General Meeting will be held at the beginning of the season on a date agreed by the Officers of the Club. As well as the Officers of the club, the positions of Kit-bearer, Auditor, Webmaster (and any other roles deemed necessary by the Officers of the Club) for the forthcoming season will be elected. At the AGM reports shall be received from the Chairman, Captain, Secretary and Treasurer, and the Treasurer shall present the financial accounts from the previous year.
*The post of vice-president was suspended from 2007
