Minutes of 1996 AGM

The Meeting was held at 1:15pm on Wednesday March 6th 1996 in Ph327

Present: C. Bridge, P. Collins, T. Fuller, S. Fullerton, B. Hodgson, J. Innes, B. Lander, N. Metcalfe, N. Rimmington, J. White
Apologies: B. Garvey

Minutes: The minutes of the 1995 meeting were accepted.
Matters Arising: Since the last meeting the secretary, D. Parker, had resigned. N. Metcalfe had taken over at the start of the playing season. S. Fullerton had been officially appointed captain.
Election of Officers: C. Bridge accepted the post of Vice-Captain for the 1996 season. The treasurer, J. White, expressed a desire to step down at the end of the season if a replacement could be found. It was also noted that a new Hon. Vice President would be needed next season.
Chairman’s Report: The chairman expressed his approval at the number of younger faces in the club, and hoped this would bode well for the future.
Captain’s Report: (Unfortunately the Captain failed to provide a written version of his report before he left Durham ! – Sec.)
Secretary’s Report: The secretary presented the fixture list for the 1996 season, including the arrangements for nets. These was some discussion as to whether the Mayor’s XI fixture should be moved to a Sunday. A new fixture, against the “Adders”, loosely connected with Newcastle University, had been arranged on both a home and away basis.
Any other business: Publicity – it was agreed that a WWW web page should be set up to publicise the club, hopefully with a link from the university home page. An advert in Headlines asking for new players was also deemed desireable. Kit – the status of some of the kit, especially the bats, was giving cause for concern. Wicket Keeper – a new regular wicket keeper would be needed this season. Members were asked to be alert!
